Mumbai, October 3: In a horrific incident that took place in Brazil, a 27-year-old woman allegedly died after she ate chocolate given by a palm reader. Notably, the palm reader had predicted that the woman didn't have long to live. The deceased, identified as Fernanda Valoz Pinto, died under mysterious circumstances. Pinto passed away in August this year.

As per a report in the New York Post, the tragic incident took place when the deceased woman was walking through the city centre of Maceio, Brazil. Maceio is known as the mecca of fortune tellers. What Did the Palm Reader Say?

Fernanda Valoz Pinto was reportedly stopped by an old woman who asked to get her palm read. The old woman, after reading Pinto's palm said that the mother of one had a few days to live. Later, she gave Pinto a chocolate as a gift. After eating the chocolate, Pinto allegedly died under mysterious circumstances. "As (the candy) was packaged, it didn't occur to her (that it could pose any danger)," her cousin said.

The victim's cousin also said that since Pinto was hungry, she decided to eat the chocolate. After eating the chocolate given by the palm reader, Pinto started feeling ill, and she shared her ordeal with her family via text messages. "My heart is racing. I've thrown up. But I have this taste in my mouth. So bitter. Bad. My vision is blurry. I'm so weak," Pinto told her family. Brazil: Top Court Rules in Favor of Indigenous Land Rights.

As per the report, Pinto had preexisting conditions, including gastritis and an ulcer. However, the family initially did not suspect foul play, but they grew suspicious after she told them about her encounter with the palm reader. Pinto was rushed to the Santa Casa de Misericordia hospital, where she breathed her last on August 4.

After her death, Pinto's toxicology report revealed that her body had reportedly harboured high concentrations of pesticides sulfotep and terbufos. However, doctors could not confirm if the chocolate killed her. Meanwhile, cops are trying to find out if the fortune teller was hired to kill Pinto.
