Boris Johnson Out of Intensive Care As Condition Improves, Shifted to Regular Hospital Ward Fighting COVID-19

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved out of the intensive care, where he was battling novel coronavirus since Monday evening. The British PM is now shifted to regular ward of St Thomas' Hospital in London, where he will "receive close monitoring." Johnson has been in hospital since Sunday and spent last three nights in intensive care.

London, April 10: U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved out of the intensive care, where he was battling novel coronavirus since Monday evening. The British PM is now shifted to regular ward of St Thomas' Hospital in London, where he will "receive close monitoring." A Downing Street spokesman said: "The Prime Minister has been moved this evening from intensive care back to the ward, where he will receive close monitoring during the early phase of his recovery." #GetWellSoonBoris Trends on Twitter As Netizens Pray for Speedy Recovery of British Prime Minister.

US President Donald Trump was quick to react to the news, saying that it was "great news" that UK PM is out of the intensive care. "Great News: Prime Minister Boris Johnson has just been moved out of Intensive Care. Get well Boris!!!" he tweeted.

Earlier Downing Street had said that Johnson's condition continues to improve. While, the United Kingdom has no formal chain of command if a Premier is incapacitated, but Johnson has nominated Dominic Raab, Foreign Secretary,  to deputize for him during his absence.

Johnson first announced that he tested positive for COVID-19 on March 27. But the 55-year-old leader continued working in isolation and leading the government amid the Coronavirus outbreak. He was later shifted to hospital after developing symptoms of the infection still after 10 days.
