Boris Johnson Officially Takes Over as UK Prime Minister, Meets Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace

Conservative Party leader Boris Johnson on Wednesday officially took over as the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK). Immediately after taking charge Johnson promised to get Brexit done.

London, July 24: Conservative Party leader Boris Johnson on Wednesday officially took over as the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK). Johnson met Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace before taking over as the PM. Immediately after taking charge Johnson promised to get Brexit done. He said that the UK would do a better deal that would maximise the opportunities of Brexit. During his 12-minute address, Johnson also presented a blueprint of domestic policies of his government. New British PM Boris Johnson Has Close Indian Connection.

Johnson took over after May handed her resignation to Queen Elizabeth II. He defeated Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt in the race to become next British PM. After being declared the winner of the Conservative party leadership race on Tuesday, he said, “We're going to get Brexit done on October 31.” The vote also resulted in the elimination of Home Secretary Sajid Javid and Environment Secretary Michael Gove.
