Blast In Pakistan's Haved Kills 4, Explosion Targeted Former Federal Minister Akram Khan Durrani's Convoy

Peshawar, July 13, In another incident of pre-poll violence in Pakistan, four people were killed while 14 others injured in an explosion near an election rally of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) in Haved area of Bannu on Friday. According to reports, the blast targetted the convoy of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl’s Akram Khan Durrani.

The injured were shifted to DHQ Bannu. Durrani is contesting the election on MMA ticket from NA-35 Bannu against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairperson Imran Khan. He has also served as the Federal Minister for Housing and Works in the last federal government from August 2017 to May 2018.

It is the second major incident of pre-poll violence in Pakistan targeting an election candidate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Earlier this week, Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Haroon Bilour and over a dozen others were killed in a suicide attack. A bomber blew himself up at a corner meeting in Peshawar’s Yakatut area. The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had claimed the responsibility of the attack. Bilour was contesting the upcoming general election from the PK-78 constituency of Peshawar.
