Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton Tops The ‘Most Admired’ Americans List Much to Donald Trump's Dismay
These Gallup polls have been conducted since 1946.
The 2016 US Presidential election results may have been quite shocking to some, but a recent poll lists the people’s favourite as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton at the top positions. This pair has retained their titles but this time the margin by which they surpass second-placed Donald Trump and Michelle Obama are less. The poll conducted by Gallup finds out the public opinions of the Americans about the Most Admired Man and Woman for 2017.
Former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have held these titles for almost decades now. According to the poll, Obama got 17% while ruling Prez Donald Trump ranks second with 14%. And with that, Trump is among those few ruling presidents who didn’t rank at the first place. In fact, in the 71 Gallup polls since 1946, the ruling presidents have won this coveted title. Obama has been on this list since his presidency from 2008. But this is the first time he tops the list as a former president.
Hillary Clinton was the most admired woman with 9% and at second position stands former First Lady Michelle Obama with 7%. Clinton has been getting this title for 16 years consecutively and she was on this list 22 times yet. This is also the first time Clinton has got the lowest percentage since the year 2002. First Lady Melania Trump fared even worse than her husband with merely 1 percent voting in for as the Most Admired Woman.
Obama and Clinton continue to woo hearts and gain admiration from Americans but it is also noteworthy the winning margins are very slight. Well, a majority of Americans tend to name someone in their knowledge when asked about their favourite Man or Woman, or as someone, they admire the most. This poll is conducted via a telephone of a random sample of 1049 adults with 18 years of age and above living in the US. These Gallup polls have been conducted since 1946. If India had a similar poll, who would you vote for? Do let us know.
