Manama, April 26: A mortuary in Bahrain discovered the body of a Thailand model who went missing around a year ago. After the job market dried up in her native country, Kaikan Kaennakam, 31, reportedly sought chances abroad, according to China Times. According to the report, she relocated to Bahrain to assist her family in northern Thailand after finding work at a restaurant in the Middle East three years ago. The latter had also told her family about her newfound relationship and moving with her Bahrain-based lover.

The Thai embassy was contacted by Kaikan's family in January of this year, but they could not locate her. Later, the family was notified by the Thai embassy on April 18 that the body of an unidentified woman from Southeast Asia had been placed in the Salmaniya Medical Complex mortuary. China Times reported that she was identified as Kaikan Kaennakam by her owing to a tattoo on her leg. Alcohol poisoning-related acute cardiopulmonary failure has been found to be the cause of death by the Bahrain authorities. According to reports, Kaikan's family feels her death was mysterious, and they are currently looking for assistance to repatriate her remains back to Thailand.
