Canberra, October 25: In a shocking incident in Australia, a pregnant woman allegedly fell through the floor of her house and suffered a miscarriage. After the incident, the woman who had rented the place reportedly sued her former landlord, alleging that she fell through the wooden floor of the property, which caused a miscarriage. The 35-year-old woman from Melbourne alleged she misstepped and fell through the hole in the floorboards.

The woman also claimed that a repairman who had repaired the house had partly patched the place using cardboard. According to a report in the Mirror.Co.UK, Fire Rescue services of Victoria reportedly spent 35 minutes cutting the woman from the floor at her rental home. The incident took place in April this year. The woman further claimed that she suffered a sprained ankle, back injury and concussion due to the fall. 'All Indians Are Uber Drivers': Teacher in Australia Slapped With Disciplinary Warning for 'Vilifying' Indians Before Indian-Origin Student in Class.

Later, the woman learned that she was pregnant and reportedly suffered a miscarriage due to the fall incident. In her defence, the woman said she was woken up by her dog as she was unconscious. The woman also said that in 2020, she had a massive tumour removed from her uterus. "So they said it was near impossible to get pregnant. When we found out I had a miscarriage, that's what hit me the hardest, I think," she added.

At present, the woman is preparing to file a lawsuit in the County Court of Victoria. She also said that she has ongoing psychological issues. In the past, too, her partner had lodged repair requests several times before her fall. Her lawyers claimed the requests were "seemingly ignored" until a repairman covered the hole with cardboard and tape. Australia Shocker: Former Childcare Worker in Gold Coast Charged With 1,623 Sex Abuse Offences Against 91 Children Within Country and Abroad.

Meanwhile, Womens Health Australia said that the old wives' tale of falling down to cause miscarriage is not true. "The amniotic sac, which contains fluid, acts as a protective barrier. However, if you do fall, you should see your doctor, as they may want to check the baby, and you may want the reassurance that everything is okay," it stated.
