Colombo, April 25: An explosion was reported from Pugoda town near Magistrate Court in Sri Lanka days after eight coordinated bombings rocked the island nation during Easter services on Sunday. The blast that was reported on Thursday, is reported from 40 km east of Sri Lankan capital Colombo. According to tweets, a minor explosion reported in a garbage dump on a vacant plot of bare-land behind the Pugoda courts. Police informed that no injuries have been reported. The official death toll of of Easter Sunday suicide bombings surged to 359 on Wednesday. At least 34 foreign nationals, including 10 Indians, were among those killed, the country's Foreign Ministry said. April 21 was the bloodiest day in Sri Lanka since the end of the civil war a decade ago where three luxury hotels in Colombo and churches in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa killed 359 people and wounded hundreds on Easter Sunday. The attacks began with six coordinated bombings at 8.45 a.m. on Sunday. A few hours later, a seventh blast rocked a small hotel near the Dehiwala Zoo while an eighth explosion took place at a residential compound in Dematagoda in Colombo.
The blast that killed 359 people, now threatens the economy of the island nation that is largely dependent on tourism. According to reports, 58 suspects have been arrested from different areas of the island so far, Police Spokesperson Ruwan Gunasekara said. The Islamic State (IS) terror group on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the attacks.
