Afghanistan on Sunday has expressed his concern to the United Nations Security Council about Pakistan’s engagements with Taliban on which the Afghan government isn't consulted.
Kabul, February 17: Afghanistan on Sunday has expressed his concern to the United Nations Security Council about Pakistan’s engagements with Taliban on which the Afghan government isn't consulted. Afghanistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it not only threatens the peace talks but violates Afghanistan's National Sovereignty and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1988. In a letter to the Security Council, Afghanistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote the "Taliban-Pakistan constitutes a violation of the national sovereignty of Afghanistan and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1988.” The letter further added, “These engagements, which are taking place under the pretext of support for peace efforts in Afghanistan, are void of any degree of coordination and consultation with the government of Afghanistan."

Pakistan has been accused by Kabul and Washington for providing save heavens to terrorists in its soil, allowing them to cross borders and attack government troops. Although Pakistan has denied the allegations. The United Nations is finding negotiations to end Afghanistan's 17-year-old war.
