Washington, October 29: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday shared a picture of the dog that was wounded during the military raid that resulted in the killing of Islamic State or ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Donald Trump said that the dog did a "great job" during the daring operation against Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The name and other details about the dog cannot be revealed, said the US President in his tweet.

"We have declassified a picture of the wonderful dog (name not declassified) that did such a GREAT JOB in capturing and killing the Leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi!" Trump tweeted sharing the photo of the dog. Earlier, the US President gave a dramatic account of the raid and said that the dog had chased down al-Baghdadi. "He reached the end of the tunnel, as our dogs chased him down," Trump said.

The dog, K-9, accompanied the US special forces during the raid and played an instrumental role in locating and tracking al-Baghdadi at his compound in Syria's Idlib province. The animal recieved injury when the ISIS chief killed himself by detonating his powerful suicide vest. Pentagon officials on Monday said that the dog is "fully recovering". A Washington Post journalist Dan Lamothe confirmed from a source that the wounded dog is doing fine.

"The dog is still in theatre. The dog, the K-9, the military working dog, performed a tremendous service as they all do in a variety of situations. (It is) slightly wounded and fully recovering. But the dog is still in theatre (and) returned to duty with its handler," Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley told reporters. On Sunday, Trump while confirming al-Baghdadi's death, said that the ISIS chief had "died like a dog" and "died like a coward".

Cairo, a Belgian Malinois service dog, had accompanied US Navy SEALs in the 2011 raid that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al-Qaida, in Pakistan's Abbottabad.
