‘Watching Child Pornography a Crime’: Supreme Court Quashes Madras HC Judgment Holding That Downloading, Watching Child Porn in Private Not Offence Under POCSO Act, IT Law

Watching and downloading child pornography are offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Information Technology (IT) Act, the Supreme Court held in a landmark verdict on Monday, September 23. Setting aside a Madaras High Court ruling, the apex court also restored criminal proceedings against a Chennai man accused of downloading and watching child porn.
