Wasim Jaffer Resigns As Uttarakhand Coach; Says ‘Secretary, Selectors Pushing Non-Deserving Players’, Anil Kumble, Irfan Pathan, Manoj Tiwary Lend Support
Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer's stint as Uttarakhand head coach came to an end after he resigned from the position. In his resignation letter dated February 9, 2021, he has accused the officials & selectors of favouring undeserving players. This comes after Cricket Association of Uttarakhand secretary Mahim Verma had alleged that coach Wasim Jaffer had favoured Muslim players & communalised the dressing room. In an email to Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU), Jaffer said that he feels "sad" because potential talents are being denied opportunity. Mahim Verma, CAU secretary said that Wasim Jaffer was given all the support since taking over the charge of the team but he was interfering "too much" in selection matters. Jaffer’s former India teammate Anil Kumble was one of the first to lend his support. Unfortunate that you have to explain this,” Irfan Pathan tweeted. Manoj Tiwari requested the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand to take note of the issue on immediate basis.
