Uttarakhand: Annual Stone-Pelting Festival Held In Champawat Leaves 120 Injured

Locals in Uttarakhand’s Champawat took part in a stone-pelting festival, Bagwal on the occasion of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ after which 120 people were injured. Bagwal is part of a ritual to appease a local deity, and is held every year at the temple of Goddess Barahi on Raksha Bandhan. The locals assemble at one place with stones and shields to take part in the Bagwal festival.
