On March 31, BBC reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin said that shelling of Mariupol, the besieged Ukrainian city, will only end when Ukrainian troops surrender. Russia later proposed a one-day ceasefire for March 31, 2022. As reported by BBC, the defence ministry said the ceasefire would start at 10:00 local time (08:00 BST) & would allow people to travel westwards to Zaporizhzhia via the Russian-controlled port of Berdyansk. The announcement comes as images and videos showing the destruction caused in Mariupol go viral. Russia launched an attack on Ukraine on February 24. Watch the video to know more.
