Uddhav Thackeray Praised For Rejecting 'Special Chair' At A Public Function, Maharashtra CM Prefers An Ordinary One
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray refused to sit on a specially decorated chair at a public function organised by the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation. Thackeray, reportedly, commented that he was not a maharaja. Thackeray had gone to review development schemes in Marathwada region. At the end of the tour, the corporation had organised an event to lay the foundation stone for a water supply scheme. When he took the dais along with other officials, he found an ornate chair for him, while the rest had ordinary ones. Thackeray was quick to ask the municipal commissioner to remove the chair and said he would prefer to sit on an ordinary one instead. He was praised on social media for this gesture. Meanwhile, accusing BJP of governing the country in “Tughlaqi style”, Thackeray on December 13 took on the Centre over its handling of the farmers’ protest while stating that it is not in “our culture to call the food providers of our country anti-nationals and terrorists”.
