Three Saroops Of Guru Granth Sahib In Afghanistan Brought To India By Evacuated Sikhs, Only Three More Remain

Over 45 Sikh and Hindu men, women, and children reached India from Afghanistan on August 24. The people arriving from Afghanistan are also carrying three of the last six saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib (SGGS) with them. Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister tweeted, “46 Afghan Hindus & Sikhs along with stranded Indian nationals are blessed to return on the same flight.” Afghan MP Anarkali Kaur Honaryar in Delhi thanked the Indian government. Puneet Singh Chandok, President of the Indian World Forum told The Times Of India the 10 km drive to the international airport from the Gurdwara Karte Parwan through various checkpoints is one of the biggest challenges. A group of men who reached India, expressed gratitude towards the Indian government as well as Afghanistanis, who, they said, had helped them reach Kabul airport safely.
