After appealing to citizens to appreciate the efforts of the frontline workers by clapping and beating thaalis, PM Narendra Modi appealed to the citizens to switch off their lights for 9 minutes and light candles/lamps/torches. Bollywood stars showed their support by lighting candles, diyas. The Bachchans, Amitabh Aishwarya and Abhishek lit diyas. Akshay Kumar shared a picture with a candle and wrote together we stand. Alia Bhatt shared a personal and emotional note as she lit candles. Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli also lit diyas. Anushka wrote that she prays every day for the crises to end. Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan, Kangana Ranaut, Shilpa Shetty, Janhvi Kapoor, Karan Johar and others also lit candles/diyas to show support to PM Modi’s 9pm, 9Minutes call.
