Telangana Floods: Death Toll Rises To 61 As Heavy Rains Battered Hyderabad, IMD Predicts Heavy Downpour Till October 21

Heavy downpour has left the city of Hyderabad flooded. Heavy rains returned to Hyderabad on October 17 after huge downpour on October 13 triggered flash floods in the city. Rains had abated since October 14, with the flood water receding in most parts of Hyderabad but a fresh spell of overnight incessant rains caused flooding on October 18 in parts of the city. at least 61 people have died in Telangana reported The Times of India. Damage worth thousands of crores have also been reported. The Balanagar Lake in the state capital breached its boundaries on October 17, causing huge flash floods in nearby areas. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and police continue to carry out rescue operations in inundated areas of Hyderabad. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in Hyderabad till October 21. While Telangana is the hardest-hit by floods, neighbouring states - Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka - have also been affected.
