Tapovan Tunnel Rescue Operations Unearth More Dead, Toll Rises To 54 After Uttarakhand Flood

Ongoing rescue work post the devastating Uttarakhand floods has unearthed five more dead bodies from Tapovan Tunnel. The death toll has now risen up to 54. Till now, 15 bodies have been recovered from two work sites – Raini village and Tapovan tunnel, where the hydro projects were being constructed. Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawans are carrying out continuous search missions deploying cranes, sniffer dogs and round the clock surveillance. According to National Disaster Rescue Police, a total of 8 bodies have been recovered from Tapovan tunnel and seven bodies from Raini site, where construction for the hydroprojects was underway.
