Incessant rains have disrupted day-to-day life in Tamil Nadu. Many parts of Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai received heavy rains on January 7. Commuters faced severe traffic jam issues due to heavy rainfall. Due to heavy rains, many districts have declared a holiday for schools and colleges on January 8. According to the order of the District Collectors, schools and colleges will remain shut in Nagapattinam, Kilvelur Taluk, Viluppuram & Cuddalore. District Collectors of Ranipet, Vellore, and Tiruvannamalai have also declared holiday for schools due to heavy rains. District Collector Sravan Kumar Jatavath announces holiday for schools in Kallakurichi. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rain over various districts in Tamil Nadu.
