Tamil Nadu Hooch Tragedy: 29 Dead After Consuming Illicit Liquor In Kallakurichi District

At least 29 people died after reportedly consuming illicit liquor in Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi district, reported ANI. Over 60 people have been hospitalised. Reports suggest that the death toll might climb up. Kallakurichi District Collector MS Prasanth visited the victims at the Government Medical College Hospital in the district. Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed shock. Stalin said, “Those involved in the crime have been arrested in this matter. Action has also been taken against the officials who failed to prevent it.” Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi condoled the deaths. The Governor said, “Every now and then tragic loss of lives due to consumption of illicit liquors are reported from various parts of our state. This reflects continuing lapses in preventing production and consumption of illicit liquor.”
