Tamil Nadu Assembly passed a Bill to restore the medical admissions mechanism that was there in the state before the introduction of NEET. The Bill seeks to provide for admission to UG courses in medicine, Indian medicine, dentistry & homeopathy on the grounds of marks obtained in the qualifying examination, (Class 12). The Bill was crafted on the basis of recommendations from a state appointed high-level committee by Justice A K Rajan. The Chief Minister said that it was wrong to say that NEET improved the standard of medical examination. The report said NEET is “not an equitable method of admission.” "I appeal to students to not take any drastic decisions," the chief minister said. Watch the video to know more.
