From July 1, India implemented a ban on a slew of single-use plastic (SUP) products. This ban adds to the earlier restriction on lightweight plastic bags of thickness less than 75 microns. This move is to counter and reduce the millions of metric tonnes of discarded plastic waste generated annually in the country. India is among the top 100 SUP waste generators.
