Senior Congress Leader Badruddin Shaikh (67) succumbed to COVID-19 late on Sunday, April 26. Shaikh was a corporator from Behrampura in Danilimda area of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Danilimda is one of the hotspots. Badruddin Shaikh, the former leader of opposition in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had tested positive for coronavirus on April 15. He was admitted to SVP hospital and reportedly was on ventilator for a week. Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to condole the sad demise of the leader. Gujarat Congress MLA Imran Kehdawala was also diagnosed with the deadly virus. Kehdawala had met CM Vijaya Rupani after which the Gujarat CM went into quarantine for 14 days. Rupani later tested negative for the virus. The number of confirmed cases in Gujarat has reached 3071 with 133 deaths being reported. The number of cases in India has reached 26919 with 826 deaths.
