Sagar Sarhadi, Kabhi Kabhie Writer Dies At 88 In Mumbai, Javed Akhtar, Jackie Shroff & Others From Bollywood Pay Last Respects

Veteran writer Sagar Sarhadi, credited with films like Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila and Chandni, has died due to age-related illness. He was 88. Sarhadi died late on March 21 evening at his residence in Sion, Mumbai, his filmmaker-nephew Ramesh Talwar told indianexpress.com. The Amitabh Bachchan-Rakhi film marked Sarhadi’s long-standing, glorious collaboration with late Yash Chopra. Sarhadi went on to write screenplay for Noorie (1979) and Silsila (1981), and dialogues for Sridevi-Rishi Kapoor 1989 hit Chandni. He turned director with 1982 film Bazaar, starring Naseeruddin Shah and Smita Patil. Sarhadi’s work in Bollywood spanned several decades as he wrote even in the ’90s for Shah Rukh Khan’s big screen debut Deewana (1992) and later for Hrithik Roshan’s acting debut Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000). Javed Akhtar, Jackie Shroff, Hansal Mehta, Anubhav Sinha paid tributes.
