Resident doctors across the country are protesting against a stay on post graduate medical admissions. Doctors at many government hospitals across Maharashtra also decided to halt work in OPDs from December 6. These doctors allege that additional workload is being shared by two batches of resident doctors instead of the required three. NEET-PG 2021 exam, which was scheduled for January this year, was postponed to February and then to April. The exam was finally held in September, however, counselling for admissions has been stayed by the Supreme Court. Currently, hearing in the case has been postponed to January 6. Meanwhile, after a meeting with Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray, MARD decided to call off its protest and return to OPD duty from December 7, reported The Indian Express. With the rise in cases of people getting infected with the Omicron variant, doctors are worried about the rising workload. Watch the video to know more.
