Rajendra Singh Birthday: Know About 'Waterman of India' Who Initiated Water Conservation Projects

Rajendra Singh of Alwar district of Rajasthan is rightly known as the ‘Waterman of India’. He was born on August 6, 1959, in Bagpat district of Uttar Pradesh. It is his efforts towards water conservation that earned him several accolades. His efforts ensured that his village was water sufficient which lie in semi-arid areas close to the Thar Desert. His initiative helped build 8,600 johads and other water conservation structures to collect rainwater for summers. He won the Magsaysay Award in 2001 and Stockholm Water Prize in 2015 for his water conservation activities. We wish the ‘Waterman of India’ a very Happy Birthday.
