Rahul Gandhi Cycles To Parliament After Opposition Parties Meet Over Breakfast
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led a meeting of opposition leaders on August 3 morning, the second such meeting in a week. The meetings of various representatives of opposition political parties comes amid continuous disruptions and protests during the Monsoon session in parliament over the Pegasus spyware phone hacking case, Covid-19 pandemic mis-management, and the demand of withdrawal of the Farmers' bill, among other issues. The meeting on August 3, a 'breakfast meet' was called to reportedly discuss holding a "mock parliament" on the lines of what the farmers have been doing. The meeting was followed by Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders getting on to bicycles and riding up to the Parliament building. This comes a week after Gandhi came on a tractor to the Parliament after which cases were registered against Yuva Congress leader Srinivas, Randeep Surjewala and others.
Trinamool Congress's Mahua Moitra, the NCP's Supriya Sule, Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut, and the DMK's Kanimozhi were among the leaders of 14 political parties attending the breakfast meeting as they showed a united front against the Modi government. Reportedly, Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP had been invited as well but its MPs chose to stay away. Watch the video to know more.
