Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal Visit Parents Of 9-Year-Old Dalit Girl Allegedly Raped, Murdered By Priest In Delhi

Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi & Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on August 3 met the family of the 9-year-old Dalit girl who was allegedly raped & murdered in the city's Cantonment area on August 1. The girl’s body was also forcibly cremated. Gandhi on August 2 called the girl "the nation's daughter". Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also met the girl's family. He has announced financial compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the girl's family. Meanwhile, Ingit Pratap Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East Delhi), told NDTV on August 3 that the postmortem was inconclusive. He further told NDTV that the accused will now face lie detector and drug tests. Residents of Old Nangal, the village where the girl and her family lived, have been protesting since August 1 night. Bhim Army Chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad has already met the family & his organisation has joined the protests. Delhi Commission for Women has launched an inquiry and summoned the police, reported NDTV. Delhi Police have arrested the four accused, including the priest. They have filed charges under stringent laws that include sections on child sex abuse & crimes against scheduled castes and tribes, reported NDTV. Watch the video to know more.
