Qatar Releases Eight Indian Navy Veterans Jailed In The Country Over Espionage Charges; Seven Back In India

Eight Indian Navy veterans who were sentenced to death in Qatar, were released by Doha on February 12. Capital punishment was commuted to an extended prison term earlier following diplomatic intervention by the central government, reported ANI. Families of the Navy veterans had made desperate pleas for their release and safe passage back to India. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had assured that it would use all diplomatic channels to bring back the veterans.
