Punjab Unlock 5 Guidelines: CM Amarinder Singh Orders More Relaxations, Lifts Night Curfew, Sunday Lockdown As Coronavirus Cases Decline
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on October 1 ordered a slew of relaxations amid COVID-19 outbreak. There will be no night curfew in Punjab anymore. The night curfew had been in place from 7 pm till 5 am. Punjab government has also decided to end complete lockdown on Sundays. Among the relaxations announced by the Chief Minister are increasing the guests limit for marriage functions and funerals to 100 in the state, in line with the Centre's guidelines. Punjab government has also decided to ease the limit of three persons in a car and 50 per cent capacity in buses, subject to the condition of windows being open, an official release said in Chandigarh. Amarinder Singh, however, directed DGP Dinkar Gupta to ensure strict adherence to coronavirus protocols, with immediate action against those violating the mandatory wearing of masks condition. The relaxations were announced after there was a decline in coronavirus cases. On reopening of schools & educational institutions, which the Centre had left to the states to decide post October 15 under Unlock 5 guidelines, CM Amarinder Singh said the final decision will be announced after due deliberations between the home secretary & the education department. The number of COVID-19 cases in Punjab has reached 1,15,151 with 3.451 deaths being reported.
