Pranab Mukherjee’s Health Worsens, On Ventilator; May God Do Whatever Is Best For Him, Says Daughter
Daughter of former president Pranab Mukherjee, who is critical and on ventilator support after a brain surgery in an Indian Army hospital in Delhi, shared a prayer on Twitter on August 12. Doctors treating him at the Army Hospital Research And Referral said on the evening of August 11 that Mukherjee has not shown any improvement in his health after the surgery, adding that his condition has 'worsened' and he remains 'critical' and on life support. People of Kirnahar area in West Bengal’s Birbhum district, Mukherjee’s ancestral place, have started a 72-hour yajna from August 11 for his speedy recovery, news agency PTI reported. The 84-year-old former president had announced on Twitter on August 10 that he had also tested positive for the coronavirus disease. Cutting across party lines, his post triggered messages of support and concern from political leaders.
