The first session was the 17th Lok Sabha witnessed protests as BJP MP from Bhopal Pragya Singh Thakur came forward to take oath. Thakur included the name of spiritual guru Swami Purna Chetnanand Avdheshanand in her oath. This did not go down well with the opposition and they started protesting. Amid the protest by the opposition parties, Sadhvi said it was her full name and she has already mentioned her full name in the form filled for taking oath. The Pro Tem Speaker Virendra Kumar ruled that the name mentioned in her election certificate issued by the returning officer would be accepted. Thakur later took oath in Sanskrit.
