Power Crisis: Coal Shortage Leads To Electricity Cuts Across Indian States

On April 27, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed the PM Modi led central government over the power crisis in the country due to the shortage of coal. This comes as several reports claim that coal stock position at the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) supervised 173 power plants was lower than the prescribed level, reported abplive. On April 25, Sakshi Dhoni, wife of former India cricket captain MS Dhoni questioned what she called the "power crisis in Jharkhand.” She tweeted, “As a tax payer of Jharkhand just want to know why is there a power crisis in Jharkhand since so many years?” India has been witnessing a power crisis for the last few weeks.
