PM Narendra Modi To States: Share COVID-19 Strategy, Prepare Cold Storage Facilities For Vaccine, Bring Positivity Rate Below 5%
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 24 emphasised the need for both safety & speed in vaccine distribution, saying "whichever vaccine India gives its citizens will be safe on all scientific standards". PM Modi held an online meeting with Chief Ministers of eight worst-hit states to discuss the coronavirus situation and preparations for vaccine delivery. While the overall countrywide figure has dropped below 50,000 for several days now, the situation in certain states, including Delhi, has given rise to concern. Warning the states not to let any laxity creep in, PM Modi asked them to work towards bringing the positive rate to less than 5 per cent and the fatality rate to under 1 per cent. Chief Ministers of eight worst coronavirus hit states, Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, had attended the meeting. The overall coronavirus count in India now stands at 91.77 lakh, with 1,34,218 fatalities.
