Onam 2021: Date, Significance, Thiruvonam Date, Rituals Of The Festival Celebrated In Kerala

The festival of Onam is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Kerala. Onam, the Malayali harvest festival is usually ten-days long. The most important day in this celebration is known as Thiru Onam (Thiruvonam). This year, Onam began on August 12. Thiruvonam is the most important day of this 10-day festival. It will be celebrated on August 21. Celebration of Onam, in order include Atham, Chithira, Chodi, Vishakam, Anizham, Thriketa, Moolam, Pooradam, Uthradom, Thiruvonam, Avittam and Chatham. On the day of Thiruvonam, people often prepare a grand 7-course  Sadya, Which includes everything from savoury to sweet dishes. It is served on a traditional banana leaf.
