The Indian Army, members of the Tibetan community and top BJP leader Ram Madhav paid their last respects in Leh on September 7 to Tibetan soldier Nyima Tenzin. He was from the once-secret Special Frontier Force (SFF) unit of Tibetan soldiers operating under the command of the Indian Army. BJP leader Ram Madhav attended the funeral and his presence sent out a strong message to China, days after a fresh flare-up between the two countries. Meanwhile, China tried to close in on Indian positions on the South Bank of Ladakh's Pangong Lake on September 7 and fired shots in the air, India said on September 8. In the statement released by the Indian Army, India accused Beijing of trying to mislead their domestic and international audience. The India army said that China "has been blatantly violating agreements and carrying out aggressive manoeuvres, while engagement at military, diplomatic and political level is in progress”. Indian troops recently gained tactical advantage by occupying heights in the region, thwarting Chinese attempts to unilaterally alter the LAC. China on September 7 claimed that Indian soldiers fired warning shots in the air during a confrontation. It had also claimed that Chinese troops took "countermeasures".
