Ardem Patapoutian and David Julius jointly won the 2021 Nobel Prize for Medicine. The American scientists won the 2021 Nobel Prize for discoveries of receptors for temperature and touch. The prize is worth 10 million Swedish crowns ($1.15 million). The prestigious Nobel prizes were created and funded in the will of Alfred Nobel. The prizes for achievements in science, literature and peace have been awarded since 1901, with the economics prize first handed out in 1969. Ardem Patapoutian tweeted, “A day to be thankful: this country gave me a chance with a great education and support for basic research.” Watch the video to know more.
