Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke for a record two hours seventeen minutes for her Budget 2020-21 speech. She cut short her speech as she was not feeling well but not before she had peppered her speech with lines from Dinanath Kaul’s poem, painted the government’s efforts in the words of Thiruvaluvar and provided reasoning for the new tax regime with the help of Kalidasa’s Raghuvamsa.
