Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister Addresses Questions On Law To Regulate Cryptocurrency, NFT

On November 30, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the risk of cryptocurrency going in the wrong hands is being monitored by enforcement authorities. She said these are matters which are discussed at various levels. Sitharaman said that there is no decision to stop advertisements of digital currencies. She said, "Let’s wait for the Bill.” When asked if anyone has paid any income tax on income from cryptocurrencies, Sitharaman said, “I do not have the ready information on how much taxes have been collected.” The Finance Minister was also asked if the government was seeking to make a separate legal framework for NFT.
