New GST Charges: Hike On Textiles Deferred, Tax Imposed On Cabs, Food Aggregators

Goods and services tax (GST) rate hike on textiles from five per cent to 12 per cent has been deferred. The GST Council decided in its meeting held on December 31. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the decision. This decision comes amid objections from states. Food platforms like Zomato and Swiggy will have to collect and deposit tax at 5 per cent rate starting from January 1. Cab aggregators like Ola and Uber will have to collect 5 per cent GST for booking 2 and 3 wheeler vehicles effective from January 1. Watch the video to know more.
