Nagaland Legislative Assembly Passes Resolution To Demand Repeal Of AFSPA In Northeast States
On December 20, the Nagaland Assembly demanded a repeal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958. It passed a five-point resolution. This comes after 14 civilians were killed by the security forces in a botched Army operation. Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland has also been demanding the repeal of AFSPA. Meghalaya's Conrad Sangma, also called for its repeal. Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said AFSPA will continue in Assam for now. Watch the video to know more.
