Rehearsal of the elephants which will take part in a parade during 'Dasara festivities' began in Mysuru on September 06. ‘Mysuru Dasara’ is a 10-day festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil. In 2019, ‘Mysuru Dasara’ gets underway on September 29 and concludes on October 08. In Mysuru, Dasara honors the Goddess Chamundeswari (another name for Goddess Durga) of Chamundi Hill, who killed the powerful demon Mahishasur. Locals celebrate the festival with great fervour.
