In a viral clip, he can be heard saying, “Konkani log chu**** banate hai,” which translates to "Konkanis fool others." Amid growing criticism, Faruqui has publicly apologised, expressing deep regret for any offense caused. He clarified that the joke was part of his “crowd work” show where he interacts with the audience. Munawar acknowledged that his comments had offended some people and offered a sincere apology.
