Modi Government Announces National Asset Monetisation Pipeline, Centre Unveils Rs 6 Lakh Crore Plan

On August 23, the Centre announced Rs 6 lakh crore National Monetisation Pipeline. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government will only monetise underutilised assets. She said the ownership will remain with the centre. Private players will have to hand over the assets to the Centre after a certain time period, which will be pre-determined. And the money obtained through the monetisation process will be used into infrastructure building. Entire process "will generate greater value and unlock resources for economy," Sitharaman said. Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog said infra assets worth Rs 6 lakh crore will be monetised across the rail, road and power sectors over 4 years. Watch the video to know more.
