On September 16, India said that it would be difficult to say how people would be evacuated from Afghanistan until the Kabul international airport resumes operations. Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson of the ministry of external affairs said that it would become easier to evacuate people once the airport starts running again. India also rejected media reports suggesting that the United States was in touch with the country to explore the option of carrying out ‘over-the-horizon’ strikes in Afghanistan.
