Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajnath Singh Face Off In Rajya Sabha Over Monsoon Session Deadlock In Parliament

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on August 5 dismissed the government's charge that the opposition was stalling business in Parliament. He said that a meeting by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to resolve the matter never happened. Opposition shouted slogans when Rajnath Singh started speaking. Singh countered the Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge in the Rajya Sabha. He said he did have a phone call conversation over smooth functioning of the House with Kharge. However, Singh said he never gave an assurance to Kharge of any meeting. The upper house was discussing the Essential Defence Services Bill, 2021, which seeks to replace the related Ordinance brought in in June 2021. Opposition is protesting in both the houses of Parliament over the Pegasus spyware scandal, farm laws, fuel price rise among others. Watch the video to know more.
