Makar Sankranti is celebrated annually in the Hindu month of Makar. It is also celebrated as Magha in Punjab and Pongal in South India. Makar Sankranti is celebrated with a lot of fervour in Maharashtra. The festival is dedicated to Lord Surya or the Sun. Makar Sankranti 2022 will be celebrated on January 14. Delicious til gul (a unique sweet dish made of til or sesame & jaggery) is prepared.
