On October 2 annually, Gandhi Jayanti is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the great freedom fighter is also known as ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ or ‘Bapu’. Gandhi Jayanti is observed to honour Bapu for his contributions to India's freedom struggle. It will be the 152nd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation this year. In India, Gandhi Jayanti is a national holiday.
