Maharashtra Unlock 5 Guidelines: Restaurants, Bars Allowed To Open With 50 Per Cent Capacity; Schools, Cinemas To Remain Shut Till October 31

The Maharashtra Government On September 30 Extended The Lockdown Imposed To Contain The Spread Of The Novel Coronavirus Till October 31. However, Hotels, food courts, restaurants & bars will be allowed to operate from October 5 with 50 per cent capacity. A separate Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be issued by the Tourism department for necessary precautions to be taken while operating these establishments. Maharashtra Government has decided to keep schools and colleges shut for another month. Schools, colleges and educational institutes and coaching centres will remain closed till October 31, 2020. Cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres and assembly halls too will remain shut for the month. All industrial and manufacturing units of non-essential items in Mumbai Metropolitan Region will be allowed to operate. Amongst others, metro rail and international flights (except Vande Bharat) will remain suspended. All social, political, sports and other functions and large congregations will remain prohibited. Central Railway is set to introduce eight additional services in Mumbai, including two ladies special trains from October 1 in order to reduce overcrowding. Dabbawalas will be allowed to board local trains and all trains within the state will start services with immediate effect. Maharashtra, which is one of the states in India worst hit by the COVID-19 pandemic has registered nearly 1.4 million cases and 36,662 deaths till now. Maharashtra is the highest contributor to the country’s COVID-19 tally in terms of both active & recovered cases.
